Karen Nightengale was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and attended Albemarle County Public Schools.  Ms. Nightengale has over 20 years of experience as an IT Professional and is IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certified.  Ms. Nightengale is a federal employee for The Department of Transportation. 

She is a graduate of George Mason University with a B.S. in Education with a Concentration in Kindergarten-6th Grade Studies.  Karen has taught for Fairfax County; The Computer Learning Center-Prince Georges Community College; The Drug Enforcement Administration and The General Services Administration.

Ms. Nightengale started her community outreach while living in Charlottesville and active in Youth Councils and The Youth Department of The NAACP. Ms. Nightengale has been active in several church activities and is an active member of The Macedonia Baptist Church, Arlington Virginia. She served as 1st Vice President of The Arlington Branch NAACP for several years, and in 2015, Ms. Nightengale took the helm as President until 2018. Currently Ms. Nightengale holds the position of Executive Director for the 2019-2020 administration. Ms. Nightengale and the distinguished members of the Arlington Branch NAACP work each and every day to be Change Agents of Peace.
